First Things First

Navy is the new neutral. In keeping with a trend that’s continued over past few years, everyone wants a sophisticated baby room, something that parents enjoy and little ones grow into. This applies to colors too! Boys, girls, surprises…it doesn’t matter what the gender, navy is the new neutral. Pair it with pastels for a nice contrast or with bright oranges, yellows, or greens for a statement!

Everything That Shines

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but babies love shiny stuff, and in 2014 grown ups do too! Using metallic accents (even paint) is a huge trend this year. Use it in a large quantity through furniture pieces or in a stenciled pattern on the wall—it’ll be gorgeous no matter what!

Glitter is just as easy to add to a space. There are lots of simple DIY projects that you can use! In the photo below, from On To Baby, simple hangers and a little glitter make some adorable (and cheap!) wall art.

Have You Seen Her Crib?

I love this 2014 trend! Posh cribs are a must! It’s reminiscent of the traditional nursery. I’ve been sensing a huge demand for traditional interiors lately…but that’s all I’ll say for now (stay tuned!). Check out this glamorous crib from Pottery Barn:

Purple is the New Pink

If navy is the new neutral, then purple is the new pink. This is no surprise, considering that the Pantone Color of the Year is Radiant Orchid. Paired with a contrasting grey, you’ll have a room fit for a classy princess! Restoration Hardware has a perfect area rug for this!

She’ll Grow into It

Last year’s trend was sophisticated baby: pearls, lace…a very feminine look. This year is similar though far more industrial. Natural textures such as fur and leather, bold colors, and statement pieces (think abstract art) have taken baby land by storm! It’s a great look that parents will enjoy, and shouldn’t they? They have to look at it at 3 in the morning, and 4, and 4:30…

A great example of the popular textures (fur, metal, brick, wood, tufting) is seen below from Restoration Hardware:
