Nursery Sneak Peek & Bumpdate

Today we’ve got a fun little peek into the crazy life of the Rossis! We’ve got masonry repairs going on outside, window replacements going on in the nursery, ceilings being painted inside and basement renovations rounding up downstairs…home ownership is certainly keeping us busy! We decided that updating and maintaining a home wasn’t enough, so we thought we’d add a small human to the mix (make sure to check out our big announcement if you missed it!).

So where are we at with that little Baby Rossi? I’m halfway through my pregnancy, at 21 weeks. Last week, we went in for the all-important 20 week ultrasound, our little peanut looks happy, healthy, and especially squirmy! We decided to wait and find out the gender among family at a “small” family dinner. On Friday, surrounded by 20 of our nearest and dearest, we found out that Baby Rossi is a GIRL! We can’t wait to meet her in January!

Gender Reveal

In preparation for our sweet little one, we’ve been working hard on the nursery (admittedly, there has also been a lot of Pinterest searching…don’t miss out on my Baby Girl Board!). This past week has seen some significant improvements. First, my sweet father-in-law painted the ceiling a vintage mint green. I figure if my baby is laying on her back all day, she’d better have something fun to look at!

After the danger of paint splatter was gone, I cleaned up our flooring, and started working on disguising the numerous scratches in the hardwood (Look for this tutorial later this week!), then picked up a carpet remnant and bound it with my handy dandy Instabind! I wrote a tutorial on DIY Carpet Binding a while ago, feel free to check it out and see how you can save hundreds on carpet with this trick!

A full tutorial and instructions (with pictures) on how to DIY bind a carpet remnant.

Such a great base compared to the orange-y hardwood!

Next, it’s time for furniture! My lovely parents offered to get us a crib, arriving this week! I can’t wait to see it in the space—isn’t it sweet?! It’s called the Violet Crib by Dream on Me, just in case you’re curious! We were waiting on this fabulous daybed to come back in stock, and it finally did last week!  Isn’t it the perfect compliment to the curves in the crib? This is called the Vera Daybed by Baxton Studios, if you’re looking for one like it.

My biggest project in the nursery has been updating this amazing Hoosier! My sister found this for a steal at a local yard sale and knew I was looking for this piece to create a one-of-a-kind changing table. After a lot of cleaning, restoring the wood with coconut oil (yep, I’ve got a tutorial for that too!), and painting the inside a nice new shade of navy, this beauty is well on it’s way to changing thousands of little diapers! I cannot wait to show you the final product, it’s going to be amazing!

Hoosier update

With each detail of the nursery being worked out, things are starting to feel so real! It’s only going to be a few short months until we are rocking our baby to sleep in that very nursery. What an amazing thought—what an unbelievable blessing. I can’t wait until the space is furnished and every detail worked out, then I’ll give you the big reveal!

Until then, happy decorating!
