Pattern Release | Timber!

Timber!!!

No, don’t take cover, but something big is happening: It’s finally here! OneThimble’s February issue will include my woodland quilt, Timber!

Timber! started as a personal project for my sweet nephew. He is growing up so fast and has already graduated to a twin sized bed! His new woodland themed room obviously needed a matching quilt, so Aunt Ooo-Ooo to the rescue! (Side note: I’ll be very sad when he learns to say Aunt Rachel).

I wanted to keep it simple so that this quilt could grow up with him for a long time. A friendly bear cub and a sweet little songbird are the center of attention, surrounded by a beautiful forest of white birch trees. Nothing could be more simple and nothing can spark the imagination like this!

The best part about this quilt: you can add or take away as you’d like. For a really modern look and a grown up version, skip the appliqué animals and highlight the simple beauty of the birch trees or add your own special creatures!

Rena added a whole family of birds and this sweet bunny to her woodland quilt!

Here’s some of the sweet details…

Appliqué birds, branches, and bears allow for a fully custom quilt

Since this quilt includes so much appliqué, which is exciting for some and dreadful for others, I decided to make an easy piecing option for a faster result! You can piece the trees, as shown above, or use a solid fabric, as shown below.

Thank you for sharing my “Timber” quilt. I had so much fun with this pattern, my first twin size quilt and my first time using a quilt pattern, yet you made me look like an expert. I am so in love with all of the testers’ quilts. I can’t wait to see what others will do with your “Timber” quilt pattern.
