I’m beyond excited to announce my Block of the Month Program starting this year! It’s been months in the making and now it’s finally time to share it with the world!
Come Quilt with Me!
Come quilt with me as we create a garden–themed Block of the Month! Cultivated to introduce seedlings (beginners) to new skills and keep it interesting for the well-rooted quilters (quilting pros), we’ll be using a variety of techniques and having a blast while we complete this planty quilt.
This program is meant to be a skill-builder! If you’re well-versed in these techniques, then maybe the Blocks are all you need. Or add on a class to learn something new each month. Want to skip the shopping trip? Then grab a kit!

What is a Block of The Month?
A Block of the Month program is a 12–month program. Each month you will receive a digital copy of a new quilt block pattern, an exclusive blog post, and helpful tips and tricks from me. The best part is that you’re not the only one stitching this quilt—lots of people are. Feel free to join our Facebook group, post using #PottingTableQuilt, and enter to win GREAT prizes…we’re going to have a great time.
There are lots of great add-ons that will make this program an even more incredible experience for you, but they are totally optional. In addition to the standard BOM program, you can order a quilt kit and/or add on a virtual class component. The quilt kit makes shopping for supplies and fabrics a breeze, and the virtual class is great for visual learners that want to see every step of the pattern from start to finish.

When does the program start?
My Block of the Month (BOM) program will start April 1, 2023. I thought this would be a fun time to start on a garden-themed quilt, because the quilt will be wrapping up in the spring of 2024! That said, you can join the program at any time this year and work at your own pace or catch up to the rest of us.
What size is the quilt?
The quilt that we will make together is a large twin size, measuring 60″ x 90″. Feel free to add or take away blocks to get it to a size that you prefer, though: if you’re looking for a throw size, just nix a single large row to get a quilt that measures 60″ x 75.”
What techniques will we be using?
This quilt is intended to be a skill building project! There will be at least two months to practice each skill: one beginner and one more intermediate. Techniques that we’ll be working through are:
- Traditional Piecing
- Bias Tape Applique
- Curved Piecing
- Invisible Machine Stitch Applique (you can use your favorite method if you’d rather)
- Foundation Paper Piecing
What do I get when I join?
Great question! There are a few options when joining this BOM program, feel free to go bare-bones or add on as you’d see fit and build the perfect program for you:
Basic BOM Program
The Basic BOM Program will include:
- A new block pattern delivered to you each month
- A blog post just for you with a short tutorial from me and some links to helpful videos, tutorials, etc.
- Entry into our monthly prize and grand prize drawings! Complete each month’s block by the end of its assigned month for extra entries.
- Access to my Facebook Community – we’ll have a blast stitching together!
You can sign up for the basic program AND get early bird pricing through the start date! That works out to just $5 a month to join!

Class Add-On
By adding on the class component, you’ll get:
- a new block pattern delivered to your email each month
- a blog post just for you with a short tutorial from me and some helpful links to videos, tutorials, etc.
- a special login for students where all of your block patterns, class videos, and exclusive blog posts, documents, etc will live
- Videos each month: I will walk you through the entire process, showing you exactly how I made my BOM quilt and giving invaluable instructions on entire process from start to finish!
When you choose to add a class before the program begins, it’s just an additional $10 per month!

Quilt Kit Add-On
When you add a kit, you’re skipping the shopping and ensuring a perfectly curated quilt top, designed by me! You’ll get:
- Enough fabric to create the quilt top and binding
- The option to order coordinating backing fabric
- Shorthand Template set (used in two of the blocks)
- Bias Tape Maker (used for the bias applique)
- Monofilament thread (used for the invisible machine applique)
With early bird pricing, the kit works out to be less than $15 a month!

Prizes
Now that you’ve been teased with all this talk of prizes, let me tell you all about it!
I want to encourage each and every one of you to complete a single block each month (sometimes easier said than done!). Since we’ll already be having fun stitching together, why not add some incentive and get some free goodies along the way!?
Monthly Prizes
Each month you can earn entries by:
-Finishing that month’s assigned block (deadline is the last day of the month)
-Posting about your finish on Instagram (you must use #PottingTableQuilt and tag me @DesignsbyRR so I know about it!)
-Posting about your finish on Facebook (within our group and/or on your own profile, just make sure you tag me!)
-If you don’t participate in social media, feel free to email me a picture of your finished block to gain an entry

The Grand Prize
The grand prize is a DOOZY, so you’ll want to pay attention here. At the end of our time together (March 2024), your monthly entries from the whole year will be put into one big drawing and I will choose one very special quilter to get FREE custom longarming done on their finished BOM quilt by author and longarmer Karlee Porter.
