Family of Four, Coming Soon!

We have some very exciting news over here at the Rossi home!

Despite the topsy-turvy world that we currently know we have chosen to take a leap of faith and are expecting a sweet baby in March.

Needless to say all three of us are VERY excited!

I know I’ve been pretty silent on here and my social media accounts about my views on the world right now. And the fact that we are choosing to bring life into the world at this moment might seem like an odd choice, but it was absolutely intentional.

As many of you may already know, I lost my mom about three years ago. That was the hardest loss that I’ve had to face in my twenty-something years. And in the three years since, we have lost many more people we love, and to add in a worldwide pandemic, pile on civil unrest…

Hey! Let’s have a baby!

When put it that way, it’s doesn’t sound like the brightest idea, but one night as we discussed our plans, I broke down. I proclaimed that we shouldn’t bring life into this broken, chaotic, terrifying world. And as my dear husband comforted me and listened to my concerns, I remembered a conversation that we had when worrying about our first pregnancy. The words that stuck with me were “the chance to know God is worth all of life.”

I (unfortunately) didn’t make that up. My ever-faithful husband was the one who said it (I’m sure I’m paraphrasing, but that’s the gist). Essentially, life is worth it all — all the chaos and loss that might come — because the goodness of knowing God is an option when you have life in you! Even better, when you take the opportunity to know and walk with God (which we pray our children will) you will never be alone in that chaos and loss.

And at the end of that tear-filled night, we chose to be faithful, we chose to be brave. And I pray that our new baby will choose to do the same for their whole life.

There always seems to be something sacred when a new life comes into the world, and I can’t think of a better time to be reminded that there is still beauty and innocence and sweetness here.
