Shiplap | Pattern Release

Coming in with the fresh breeze of summer is my latest design: Shiplap! This nautical quilt is perfect for men, beach lovers, and land lovers too! It’s all about your fabric selections.

Shiplap is a fun, modern, quick-sew for summer; with only two fabrics to choose and simple piecing and appliqué, you’ll be able to sail through this quilt and still have time for fun in the sun!

This is a great quilting pattern for men or anyone who loves the beach! Perfect for a modern beach house, baby, masculine feel, or add terry cloth as your backing and use it at the beach or pool!

The pattern includes instructions for a baby, throw, and twin sized quilt.

This is definitely one of those quilts where the fabric decides the feel. What’s more? You can choose a fabric that you love and still see a lot of it! I used Wordsmith by Janet Clare for Moda.

How’d I come up with the name Shiplap? Well, I always attempt to be a little bit witty with my names—thus the Ship in Shiplap. But, I also wanted to give a little shoutout to one of my inspirations, Joanna Gaines, who has made the building material (known as Shiplap) incredibly popular. The long strips in the design reminded me of the Shiplap that she uses in so many of her designs.

  1. Love the design!! You are right, the different fabrics that were chosen really change the feel of the quilt. I love all the combinations that people picked, and it is definitely perfect for summer!

Also, I love that you drew inspiration from Fixer Upper. If there is Shiplap, french doors, and an island, you know Joanna has been there 😀
