Crap, It’s Christmas! | Day 3

Here we are, day 3 of the sew-along already! Now that we’ve chosen our fabrics, and gotten everything cut out, it’s time to start sewing! Today we’ll be focusing on creating the cuffs, which really make this little Christmas stocking shine. If you need to get caught up, don’t worry—there’s always room for one more. Hop back to Day 1 (fabric selections) and Day 2 (cutting) and get caught up in just a few minutes. Now, let’s get sewing!

Since you’re following along with the pattern, it’ll be helpful to know that we’ll be completing steps 2-7 today.

Ironing

As with any good project, make sure to iron out everything nice and flat before getting started! It makes for a much more crisp finished product when all is said and done. While you’re at the ironing board, complete step 2.

Making a Ruffle

Step 3 is all about making a ruffle, if you need more help with this, I’ve got an entire blog post dedicated to just learning how to make a ruffle from ribbon. Make sure to check it out if you haven’t already!

Following along with steps 4-5, we’ll add the ruffle to the cuff:

Then we’ll turn it right side out (the big reveal is always the best part!), and topstitch.

Now, it’s time to repeat one more time to get a total of 2 cuffs.

That’s all there is for today! Can you believe that we’ll be wrapping this up in just two more days? I can’t wait to see what your stockings look like. Once you’ve got your cuffs finished, make sure to post them here, or use #CrapItsChristmas on Facebook and Instagram! It’s a party & we want to feel the anticipation with you. If you haven’t joined my Facebook group, now is the time to do it—you don’t want to miss out on all the sew-along chitter chatter!
