These are such good ideas for getting a dining room that looks like the Dining Room in the HGTV Dream Home 2016

I’m drooling…absolutely drooling over this dining room (which seems appropriate, it is a place for delicious food after all)! HGTV does a fantastic job every year, but this is a masterpiece! Today, I’m going to show you how to get the same look as the HGTV Dream Home Dining Room for 2016. Though I will be trying my luck by entering, my odds probably aren’t terrific. Just in case you don’t win either, I’m going to show you how they got the look and how you can get the same look in your very own home! (Continue reading…)

Great details on how to throw a proper British tea party! Perfect for a bridal shower theme or baby shower!

I never thought it would happen…actually, he said it never would, but that’s what you get for saying never. My brother not only got married, but married the perfect girl last month! I, along with aunts, mothers, and the best bridesmaids a girl could ask for threw her a fabulous British Tea Bridal Shower fit for a princess. Stacks of old books topped with teacups and flowers set the scene for a relaxed, ladylike affair. It was the perfect day to welcome the guest of honor into our family. (Continue reading…)

A great guide for organizing your kitchen cabinets. Great ideas for keeping them clean and organized all the time!

After Christmas, all hope was lost. All the peace on earth came to a screeching halt when you got to my kitchen. My new bread maker sat in the middle of the counter, my tea drawer was bursting at the seams, spices were falling out of the spice cabinet—I’ve been putting off reorganizing the kitchen for a while, but there was no putting it off now. Reorganizing takes a lot of time and effort, but with these few tips and tricks, it’s totally worth it. Your kitchen will feel like new and cooking might not continue to be the bane of your existence—well, that part might still be true. (Continue reading…)

Modern Side Table

Day in and out I’ve been dreaming about a finished basement, my shiny new studio, and the guest room. It literally keeps me awake at night—it’s pathetic. I found the perfect inspiration for my guest room on HGTV’s Welcoming Retreat for Winter Guests. This space was designed by Flynnside Out, and it’s just gorgeous! I’m hoping to mirror this look in my future guest room & thought I’d share my finds with you!  (Continue reading…)

http://magnoliahomes.net/the-farmhouse/

I’m not going to lie, Joanna Gaines is possibly the cutest, most fun designer I’ve come across in a long time—I love her and her style! Today’s Monthly Mirror is going for the farmhouse chic look that Joanna has certainly achieved in her home. It’s geared towards those who might not have access to great salvage (or curbside) finds, but want the look!

As you know, I’ve been hard at work on my basement. Looking back at my Basement Remodel post from back in March, I just want to pat sweet little Rachel on the head for being so ambitious…how cute! Apparently, somewhere between watching HGTV and having contractors do renovations for me, I forgot that THIS IS A HUGE PROJECT! That said, I’ve also been using my time to get some helpful tools together for you who are taking on a basement remodel: blog posts, tutorials, basement budgeting tools—all kinds of goodies! Let’s start with a recap, shall we?

DIY Foyer Wall Organizer

We all have that one weird thing in our home: a doorbell speaker that belongs in Victorian England, built ins, intercom systems…old houses have weird stuff character! My nightmare: the telephone box. Today, we are going to take the stance of, “if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.” I have found that by working with your home’s character, you preserve what makes it so special and create something one of a kind!

HGTV Dream Home Living Room

It’s time for a new piece that I’m calling The Monthly Mirror! Each month, we are going to go through a very beautiful, very expensive space and help you get the look without breaking the bank. This could include product links, DIY ideas or even tutorials! I hope you enjoy this as much as I do. If you have a space that you’d love to replicate, send me a message or leave a comment on my Facebook page—maybe it will be the subject of next month’s Monthly Mirror!

Our first space is the infamous HGTV Dream Home for 2015. I hope, as I’m sure you all do, that I will win this year, but just in case I don’t, we’re going to try to achieve the look of the Dream Home’s Great Room in our humble living rooms…let’s get started!

Concrete Minimalist Interior Design

Less is more…it’s really true! Today we are going to take a good look at the minimalist design style. This is a style that I really enjoy, but until now, haven’t found that it’s attainable—I’ve already changed my own mind on that, and hopefully you’ll read on and change yours too! So here it is: minimalist interior design!

traditional bedroom

I’m excited to introduce my series for the next few weeks! We are going to decipher some of the most common interior design styles and help you figure out what your interior design style is! We’ll work our way from the traditional style to (my favorite) the transitional and everything in between. Some of you may work in a few different styles in your own homes. But knowing what your tendencies are is a great way to communicate with designers and other design/tradespeople.
